Workforce Development Is a Top Priority
The state of Tennessee and the Innovation Valley area have strong worker training programs to support a wide variety of businesses and industries.
Tennessee's FastTrack Job Training Assistance Program:
- Offers customized training as an incentive for creating new jobs
- Is available to manufacturing and service sector businesses
- Includes benefits such as pre-employment and on-the-job training, leadership skills, and training materials
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development:
- Provides training through the statewide Career Center System in 13 Local Workforce Investment Areas, clusters of counties whose labor market and other factors are similar
- Gives employers access to job seekers through the Career Center System
- Provides grant funding for customized training for existing businesses through the Incumbent Worker Training Program
Educational institutions also provide training:
- Six Tennessee Technology Centers in the Innovation Valley region provide skills training on campus or at an employer’s site.
- Three community colleges offer business and industrial training: Pellissippi State, Roane State, and Walters State.
